Leaving bulky items in the alley is a crime.

For some, the idea of moving away their bulky items is too much to bear, so instead of finding alternatives they just dump them in the alley or on the sidewalks, erroneously thinking someone is there to pick up after them. If caught, illegal dumping carries a significant fine. By doing so it only serves to contribute to a generally trashy feel and visitors are more likely to throw their trash anywhere.
